Each venue must have a formal risk assessment to make sure that it’s safe and accessible. There is a template form for this that can be obtained through the National Consultations Team.

When you’re completing your assessment, you will need to consider the varied degrees of mobility of persons that will be attending the event. If possible, hold the event on the ground floor and ensure there’s a ramp into the building. If it’s not possible to hold the event on the ground floor, make sure that there’s a lift.

When completing the risk assessment for your event, think about the time and location. The time of year has an impact on the amount of daylight, which could cause security and safety concerns for team members supporting the consultation when travelling to and from events.
