Assess each project on a case-by-case basis to determine the level of consultation needed to support the process. The National Consultations Team can provide advice and guidance to help set the strategy for individual projects.

The purpose of the community consultation is to inform people living near the proposed scheme, and interested stakeholders, about the project. That way they have an opportunity to help shape the project ahead of Network Rail submitting a planning application.

Consultation should take place at key stages during the development and design of a scheme’s proposals. This provides opportunities for interested parties to provide meaningful feedback at different stages of the project whilst the plans are still evolving.
