You have to make sure the consultation is adequately and fully promoted before it starts.

Using flyers and posters, notify residents and businesses two weeks before you launch the consultation. If you don’t, this can reduce the risk of an application not succeeding. You can target those living outside the target consultation area with press announcements and newspaper adverts.

You should also create a project web page on the Network Rail website before the consultation launches. Send all copy, documents and images to the Digital, Social Media and Film Team at least 10 working days before the launch – email them to websupport@networkrail.co.uk

The Network Rail website has guidelines for creating a project page – please make sure you read this beforehand, as it includes guidance on what to send the team.

Time press announcements for the day of consultation launch, to drive people to the consultation information, rather than the events.
